TheKenmuir Arms
The Kenmuir Arms in sunshine: the white-painted inn, its glass-fronted restaurant and the lawn in front
New Luce · Dumfries & Galloway

A riverside village inn in the heart of Galloway

Welcome to The Kenmuir Arms

A glass-fronted restaurant, a snug bar and three ensuite rooms beside the Water of Luce, in a quiet village between the Galloway hills and the sea. The inn belongs to New Luce: the village bought it, rebuilt it, and opened its doors again for everyone.

Worth the drive, and still the village local

Our story

The village that saved its inn

When the Kenmuir Arms closed, New Luce voted to buy it. The village's own trust rebuilt it with local hands, funded by the windfarm in the hills above, and opened its doors again in 2023.

After dark

Under some of the darkest skies in Britain

Galloway Forest Park was the UK's first Dark Sky Park. On a clear, moonless night the Milky Way rises over the hills, and a warm room is waiting when you get back.
